The God Who Doesn't Forget - Rev. Kevin Livingston

Rev. Kevin Livingston, speaking on Isaiah 49, reminds us of the nearness of God and how He remember us.

Isaiah 49:8-16 New International Version (NIV)

8 This is what the Lord says:
“In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you; I will keep you and will make you; to be a covenant for the people,
to restore the land and to reassign its desolate inheritances,
9 to say to the captives, ‘Come out and to those in darkness, ‘Be free!’
“They will feed beside the roads and find pasture on every barren hill.
10 They will neither hunger nor thirst, nor will the desert heat or the sun beat down on them.  He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water.
11 I will turn all my mountains into roads, and my highways will be raised up.
12 See, they will come from afar— some from the north, some from the west, some from the region of Aswan.”
13 Shout for joy, you heavens; rejoice, you earth; burst into song, you mountains!  For the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones.
14 But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me.”
15 “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne?
Though she may forget, I will not forget you!
16 See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.

Blue Christmas Service

For Those Who Find Rejoicing Hard Work

The Christmas season can be difficult for many reasons: grief, separation, illness, uncertainty... In this service of light, come to find hope and healing, to honour a loved one's memory, or to support someone else.

7:00-8:00 PM Sunday Dec 11th
CPC Sanctuary 177 Beverly St (Baldwin Street entrance)
Downtown Toronto 2 blocks north of the AGO

This gentle, contemplative service is for those who may not feel particularly “merry” or “bright.” Christmas can be a difficult time of year for many reasons. The memory of a loved one no longer with us, the weariness of ill health, the anguish of broken relationships, the insecurity of unemployment, the pain of isolation—all these can make us feel very alone in the midst of those joyfully celebrating.

Through songs, readings, prayers and candle lighting, this service offers sacred space to acknowledge and honour our feelings and to know that we are not alone in them. Come for yourself or invite someone else who may need encouragement.
